Silicon Basis
Silicon Basis is an early-stage Semiconductor IP company with proprietary patent-pending innovations and an exclusive worldwide license to a core technology patent from UC Berkeley. Silicon Basis has developed a programmable logic architecture known as ‘SiTela’ which when compared to traditional FPGAs offers significantly improved logic density, performance and active and static power consumption.
This SiTela technology will be available to license to semiconductor companies and OEMs as custom-sized ‘hard macro’ semiconductor IP cores that can later be configured to address one or more specific applications. By including SiTela within an ASIC, ASSP or standard-product design, chip designers can build-in flexibility and future proofing and may address multiple markets for relatively little incremental unit cost and power consumption compared to a fixed-function device.
The SiTela architecture makes programmable logic a cost-effective and power-efficient way of implementing today’s advanced applications. The main benefits of SiTela are as follows:
- Fully Flexible: An SRAM based reconfigurable technology
- Lower Cost: Up to 8 times denser than existing programmable logic solutions
- Longer Battery Life: Up to 4 times less power which makes it suitable for mobile applications
- Improved Performance: Up to 10 times more power efficient than configurable processors
- Fast Learning Curve: Compatible with current standard third party EDA flows
- User-Friendly: Can be built with any industry standard manufacturing process
